Silver Unoaked er lagret på en kombination af rustfri stål og betontanke for at fastholde mineralitet i vinen - dog er vinene fortsat meget 'forward' i stilen med masser af frugt. Vinen præges af rød grapefrugt, god mineralitet, citronskal og stenfrugter. I midtpaletten fornemmes citron marengs, kvæde, og citrus suppleret med en sprød syre som fornemmes fra start til slut.

Denne årgang viser noter af hyldeblomst, grøn limeskal og masser af imødekommende frugt. Paletten er moden, fin og saftig og den modne citrus smag afsluttes med flot mineralitet. En klassisk vin fra en fremragende årgang.....

Claudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc er den ubestridte international ambassadør for vinproducenterne i New Zealand i almindelighed og Marlborough i særdeleshed. Utallige tusinder af flasker har fundet vej ud i verden, og mange har sikkert allerede smagt denne vin på en god restaurant eller som et meget opløftende element i picnic kurven.

Druerne er høstet om natten og i de kølige morgentimer og efter afstilkning og et let presning er de kølet ned i 48 timer inden gæringen blev sat i gang. 

Vinen har ligget "sur Lie" i rustfrit stål i omkring 3 måneder inden sammenstikningen og den efterfølgende aftapning på flaske i september måned.Vinen er mættet af pulserende sommerlige og tropiske aromaer. Der er passionsfrugt og saftig ananas og bagved friske basilikum og tomatblade. I munden fortsætter de saftige eksotiske frugter smukt suppleret af sprød syre og fin mineralitet.

Vineyards
This Chardonnay is a blend of multiple clones sourced from Ferrington and Savoy Vineyards, located near the towns of Boonville and Philo, respectively, in Anderson Valley.

Winemaking
The fruit was harvested September 12 through October 8 at an average of 23.0° Brix, then whole cluster pressed to tank and settled for 24 hours. Fermentation occurred in neutral French oak barrels, and very limited malolactic fermentation was permitted. The wine was aged sur lie in 60 gallon neutral French oak barrels for nine months.

Winemaker Notes
The hallmarks of our Anderson Valley Chardonnay, bright acidity and vibrant fruit, are achieved by picking the grapes before the sugar gets too high, limiting malolactic fermentation, and using very little new oak. Aromatics of lemon panna cotta, verbena, and subtle hints of lime zest and struck flint give depth to the nose. On the palate, flavors of lemon zest, honey, and chamomile are punctuated by refreshing acidity.

FEL Pinot Noir Anderson Valley is a gorgeous introduction to the FEL wines. Juicy, dark cherries, flowers, sweet spices and a hint of oak emerge from a supple, juicy Pinot perfectly suited for drinking over the next few years. This is an especially forward Anderson Valley Pinot with plenty of appeal.

Vineyards
This wine is made of a blend of select clones including Pommard, Mt. Eden, Martini, and Dijon from Donnelly Creek, Savoy, Wiley, and Ferrington vineyards in the Anderson Valley Appellation.

Winemaking
The fruit was harvested September 2 through 17 at an average of 24.6° Brix, followed by a five to seven day cold soak at 55°F, a nine day primary fermentation peaking at 88-94°F, and a three to seven day extended maceration. The wine was aged sixteen months in 60 gallon French oak barrels, 42% of which were new. Coopers include Cadus, Rousseau, Quintessence, François Frères, and Sirugue.

Winemaker Notes
The aromatics this wine are bright with sweet notes of black cherry, pomegranate, boysenberry, and truffle. Hints of cinnamon, caraway, and toast are reflective of both Anderson Valley’s spice driven terroir, and the extended aging in French oak barrels. In the mouth, the wine is loaded with rich flavors of dark fruit, cocoa, and spice. The palate is refined with pleasant acidity and elegant tannins that continue to unfold after the last sip. This is a generous wine that will continue to evolve and drink well for at least half a decade.

This blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon emerges from a vineyard situated adjacent to one of the famous vineyards utilized to produce Spain’s greatest red wine, Vega Sicilia. Made from relatively old vines, the 2012 Pruno is a sexy, opulent, voluptuously textured effort that spent 12 months in two-year-old French oak barrels. Reminiscent of a baby Vega Sicilia, it possesses a dense ruby/purple color as well as notes of high-class, unsmoked cigar tobacco, creme de cassis, licorice, graphite and spice box. Full-bodied, deep, velvety textured, lush and heady, at $20 a bottle, it is another sensational bargain from Eric Solomon. Enjoy it over the next 5-6 years.

Jean Laurent producerer økologisk champagne som hans familie har gjort det i mere end 1000 år i byen Celles-sur-Ource. Her er det traditionerne som tæller, og han er klart af den opfattelse, at terroir skal præge champagnen fra start til slut. Det samlede areal er på 39 hektar, hvoraf 30 hektar er plantet med Pinot Noir mens 9 hektar dyrkes med Chardonnay. Han tilhører den gruppe af producenter - récoltant-manipulants, som er med i hele processen......lige fra mark til at champagnen forlader huset. Dette sikrer den helt unikke hus-stil som giver champagne med sjæl.

Blanc de Noirs er en blanding af forskellige årgange - minimum 3 år. Dette sikrer den kompleksitet, men også ensartethed i smag. I næsen fornemmes kvæde, kirsebær, lakrids, læder....en champagne med både magt og samtidig finesse. Lang lang finish med velafbalanceret syreindhold og harmonisk helhed. Dette er champagnen som aperitif, ledsager til lyse retter eller måske kød.

As for the Pinot Noirs, the 2013 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast shows fresh kirsch liqueur, lavender and forest floor notes and medium body in a sexy, upfront style. This should drink well for 5-7 years. The single-vineyard wines all represent much smaller quantities of wine. There have been several noticeable changes in the Kistler wines over the last few years, as they are certainly picking the Pinot Noir at an earlier date and going for less extraction, more fragrance and delicacy. The Chardonnays are still powerful wines but they have backed off the new oak to about 40%. (About 10 years ago, it was around 60%.) Other than that they are still potent and rich Chardonnays that are meant to be drunk in their first 4-6 years of life. It is my experience that aging Kistler wine has not been generally as successful as I would have hoped.

The 2015 Hunting Hill Chardonnay displays a youthful restraint, yet nonetheless delivers an exciting array of stone fruit, pink grapefruit, ginger and marzipan notes with subtle hints of orange blossoms, crushed stones and lightly buttered toast. Medium bodied and tightly woven, is has a lively backbone supportting the generous flavor layers, finishing with great length and depth. As usual - just gorgeous!

Either that or it's the years of continual improvement from trials, failures, successes and all the experience and determination that goes with sheer grind. Melba's late husband, Mate (pronounced Matty), started this winery in the 1940s. "We planted a lot of different varieties," Paul told me. "The Chardonnay came out as a star early-on." Sixty odd years on and the brothers have progressed their father's life's work, now producing some of New Zealand's greatest Chardonnays, not to mention the world's.

The 2015 Mate's Vineyard Chardonnay is a cracking example of this vineyard/vintage, starting with a youthfully reticent nose of lemon curd, grapefruit juice and peach blossoms with hints of crushed stones, lime leaves and brioche. The medium-bodied palate is tightly wound with an electric backbone of freshness supporting the intense citrus and mineral flavors, finishing with great length. It needs another 3-4 years in bottle to really get into its groove.

In 1990, Maté Brajkovich reworked the land and planted a new vineyard of Chardonnay vines on the site of the original vineyard that he and his family purchased in March 1944. The first grapes from this vineyard were harvested in March 1993, the year following Maté’s death. The resulting wine was released in November 1994 to coincide with celebrations marking the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Brajkovich Family’s arrival at Kumeu River. The Mate’s Vineyard is usually the most reserved and unyielding when young and this is even more so with the 2013 vintage. The nose is very closed, just giving hints of the golden queen peach and mineral notes that we expect from Mate’s Vineyard. On the palate however, the flavour is very concentrated and distinctly richer than the other 2013 wines, but maintaining a perfect balance and freshness that sets this wine apart and makes it wonderful. This is a wine of immense concentration that will be very long lived.

Mischief and Mayhem består af Michael og Fiona Ragg og Michael Twelftree, tre gode venner hvis passion for vin, særligt Bourgogne, inspirerede dem til at starte op med eget setup i efteråret 2004. Før dette var Michael Ragg næsten 10 år hos Berry Bros. & Rudd, inden han flyttede til Bourgogne i foråret 2003. Her startede han op som vinkonsulent og winebroker i Aloxe-Corton.
Michael Twelftree er medstifter og samtidig drivkraften bag det Australske vineri Two Hands Wines fra Barossa Valley.

Mischief and Mayhem har et mål - at producere nogle af de bedste vine som Bourgogne kan tilbyde.  Veltillavede, elegante og individuelle vine, der hver især repræsenterer både kommune og appellation.

Tastingnote
Bright pale straw in colour with hints of green and gold. Lovely clean nose of lemon, green apple, pear and grapefruit with chalky mineral, tarragon and lime juice notes.On the palate the wine is pure and refreshing, with bright lifted acidity and subtle spice notes. In keeping with the vintage there is nice clean ripeness of fruit with plenty of lemon and lime citrus elements, great minerality and hints of vanilla, nuts, acacia honey and pear. The finish is crisp and pure with lovely stone and grapefruit notes.Pale straw with hints of green and gold in color with a lovely nose of lemon, green apple, pear and lychee with chalky mineral, tarragon and lime notes. On the palate the wine is pure and refreshing, with bright lifted acidity and subtle spice notes. There is a nice ripeness of fruit with plenty of lemon and lime citrus elements, gooseberry and hints of vanilla, baked bread, butter and cream.

Newtons Red label serie er de "nye" basis vine fra huset, der er blevet berømt for deres intense og meget volumeniøse ufiltrede vine.Vinen er skabt på druer købt hos venner og bekendte både i Sonoma County (58 %) og i Napa County (42 %). Den har modtaget 12 måneders lagring på fade, der har været brugt 2-3 gange til topvinen "Unfilteret Chardonnay", og i modsætning til denne får vinen ikke lov til at gennemføre sin malolaktiske gæring.

Newton Vineyard er Peter Newtons livsværk. Efter en tid som succesrig forretningsmand blev han med grundlæggelsen af Sterling Vineyards nær Calistoga, Californien, i 1964 en del af den første bølge af vinavlerne, som satte de californiske vine på den internationale dagsorden. Sterling blev hurtigt kendt for sin Cabernet Sauvignon og Chardonnay og senere var det her at den ellers nedvurderede Merlot drue blev bragt ind i varmen.

Sterling Vineyards blev solgt til Coca-Cola i 1977 og for de midler der kom ud af det grundlagde Peter Newton og hans kone Su Hua Newton Vineyard i St. Helena og deres naturligt gærede, fadlagrede og ufiltrerede Chardonnay, Merlot og Cabernet vine blev snart nogle af de største forbilleder for producenterne i Napa.

Peter Newton døde i februar 2008 81 år gammel, men da det de seneste 10 år har været den noget yngre Su Hua, som stod i spidsen for produktionen får dette ingen betydning. Newton Vineyard vil fortsat producere californisk "Vin De Garde", vine skabt i kærlighed til de franske forbilleder og vine som - efter californisk målestok - udvikler sig smukt og længe på flaske.

The 2008 Pintia has a fragrant bouquet with scents of dark plum, mulberry and fresh cherry, the new oak neatly folded into the fruit profile. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy, silky smooth entry. The tannins here are very fine with dark cherries, a touch of sloe and spices that become more pronounced toward the focused finish. This is perhaps the most feminine 2008 so far – less sexy than the 2007 but still seductive.

The 2010 Pintia had already been bottled when I tasted it, although not released. The bouquet is very Bordeaux-like with black rather than red fruit, fine minerality and touches of graphite and cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with plump, rounded tannins, a firm structure and great precision on the finish. This is what you might call a “classic” Pintia that already demonstrates great breeding and sophistication toward the finish.

Vintages are therefore selling a little faster now and I tasted the 2011 Pintia, which is produced with the local strain of Tempranillo called Tinta de Toro from, head-pruned, mostly ungrafted, old vineyards (40 to 60 years of age) that were harvested quite early and quickly (50 tons of grapes per day!), September 13-18, to preserve the freshness in a very warm, ripe vintage. The wine matured for one year in mostly French oak barrels and is dark and ripe, but surprisingly fresh for a very warm vintage. The early harvesting has paid back and has provided for a wine that shows the character of the place, with that slight rusticity – especially if compared with Alion – true to its birthplace and the vintage, with notes of tree bark and damsons, spicy oak and a faint reductive character when uncorked. It would benefit from decanting in advance, and notes of beef blood emerge with time in the glass. The palate is medium to full-bodied with juicy tannins and a supple texture that fills your mouth, ending with a pleasant bitter note. This is a generous, big, ripe wine getting civilized and more elegant by the year, still a little marked by toasted oak, but developing different notes with time, becoming very meaty and showy.

Harvesting the fruit at different stages of ripeness, known as phased picking, played a critical role in producing the 2013 Fig Tree Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc. Picking began when the fruit reached 21.5 to 22 Brix and continued until the sugar levels reached a maximum of 24 Brix. That assured the wine would exhibit tropical fruit as well as grassy notes. A mix of whole cluster and destemmed fruit was used and skin contact was kept short, no more than two to three hours. Fermentations began in stainless steel and then roughly half of the juice was pumped to barrel to complete. The wine was aged on the lees in stainless steel, neutral French oak and acacia wood barrels for four months, adding a beautiful texture to the wine.

Inhale the aromas, sip a bit of this Sauvignon Blanc and you'll notice an interesting quality. Figs perhaps? But what's most apparent is its roundness and richness, the result of picking the fruit a little riper in 2013 and using about a third Musqué clone Sauvignon Blanc. There's a touch of grassiness on the nose, giving way to pineapple, melon and lime notes that carry through to the palate. The youthful, firm acidity is there on the end but softens with time in the glass. You might also notice a mineral note in the Fig Tree, something you don't customarily find in California Sauvignon Blanc.

The release of the 2014 Red Car Rosé of Pinot Noir is upon us. Harvested at a cool 21 brix and immediately whole cluster pressed, our dry and aromatic Rosé is a true vin gris, fermented like a white wine without skin or seed contact. In 2014, the wine is bone dry at 12.7% alcohol, in a dashingly light shade of pale melon-pink and with an aromatic pro le of tangerine oil, pink grapefruit, and bing cherries. Cool-climate West Sonoma Coast vineyards give the wine its hallmark style, with the biodynamically-farmed Bybee Vineyard in Sebastopol Hills making up the backbone for this wine.

Our Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon is ruby in color and displays aromas of black cherry, plum and violets.  Ripe flavors of blackberries and raspberries combined with hints of savory spices coat the palate. The soft tannins and sweet oak balance lead to a long and lingering finish. 

WINEMAKING NOTES 
Grapes from sites throughout Paso Robles were harvested at optimal maturity, then de-stemmed and gently crushed into closed-top stainless steel fermenters, at warm temperatures, to fully extract color and flavor.  The fermented wine then was racked to oak for aging.  During the aging process the wine lots were tasted throughout and blended back together just before bottling.

Yields continued to increase in 2013, with just over 4,000 cases of wine from a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. This is another killer effort from Spottswoode. Inky bluish purple to the rim, it has hints of violets intermixed with sweet foresty notes, blackcurrants, chocolate and a touch of subtle smoke and earth. It is dense, with higher acidity and more noticeable structure than the 2012, but is as concentrated, dense and promising. Some patience is warranted in 2013, and I would suggest waiting another 5-6 years before pulling the cork on one. It is a 50-year wine at the very minimum and a great classic.

A truly monumental wine, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is simply magnificent. A huge, energetic wine, the 2013 exudes richness, concentration and depth. Cool, mineral and savory notes meld into a core of intense dark fruit in a vertical, towering Cabernet Sauvignon endowed with superb purity and depth. This is the best showing yet from the 2013.

2008 was a challenging vintage in Ribera del Duero, a vintage marked by a severe frost on September 24th. The vineyards of Vega Sicilia were saved by some anti-frost burners that really made the difference. Even though, there are only some 70,000 bottles of 2008 Único, a wine that will be released around March 2016 after the 2007, and before they sell 2005 and 2006. It's a fresher, more mineral version of Vega, and very much Vega in character. It has a certain aroma that I cannot define that I also found in the 2011 Valbuena. The palate is surprisingly polished; the wine is quite accessible from now on, with fine tannins and a subtle thread of acidity going through the core. This is a lighter version of Único, but one style I like very much; it's a wine that should drink well throughout its life. A triumph for the vintage conditions.

Since the 2010 harvest, they ferment plot by plot, and it shows. This Valbuena has almost 100 components in it, smaller lots, all of them corresponding to a plot of vines. It has all the signs of being one of the best vintages ever for this second wine from Vega Sicilia, mostly Tempranillo but with 5% Merlot that matured five months in 20,000-liter oak vats, 18 months in new barriques (equal parts French and American oak), three months in used barrels and then five months in the vats again before being bottled in May 2013. 2010 seems to have the exuberance of the 2011 and the seriousness and elegance of 2009. It has the Burgundian philosophy of terroir, with all plots fermented and aged separately, giving each vineyard what it needs in terms of vinification and elevage resulting in something like 40 separate lots to blend. This wine has gained in precision and sharpness, and is very pure with delineated aromas and flavors. It is a world-class wine, possibly the best Valbuena ever.

The 2011 Valbuena was fermented plot by plot, something they started after a deep soil study in the 2010 vintage. 2011 was a very warm and ripe vintage in the zone, and the challenge was to keep the freshness. There are more black fruit aromas, subtle spices and hints of complexity, as well as tertiary aromas that are quite classic and turn more balsamic with time in the glass. Again, this is very different form the 2012 Alión, rounder, riper, richer, more polished, mellow, soft, quite exuberant and hedonistic.

The 2012 Valbuena was cropped from a vintage with a very dry and warm summer that resulted in very healthy grapes. Since the 2010 vintage, this wine is fermented plot by plot following the findings from a soils study they did. The élevage is in French and American oak barrels that on average lasts some 18 months followed by another 18 months in 20,000-liter oak vats, but of course some lots had more time in barrique and others more time in vat. It has ripe tannins and a powerful mouthfeel but with a soft texture. Even if it's not widely mentioned, it always has had some French grapes, mainly Merlot, but this 2012 is the first Valbuena ever to be really 100% Tempranillo—because the Merlot didn't behave well in this warm and dry year. It follows the path opened by the 2010, more precise and elegant, rounded by that extra time in larger vats to finish polishing the tannins. I find this 2012 halfway between 2010 and 2011. It has depth and elegance, more serious than Alión, which is always the (maybe unfair) comparison. 174,545 bottles and some larger formats were filled in April 2014.

ROSE OF PINOT NOIR
I have a few rows of pinot noir that rarely reach ultimate ripening so I normally sell these grapes. However, in 2013 I let them hang all the way into October. The result was the sugars stuck at 22 brix but the flavors were very complex for under ripe fruit. Therefore, I tried for the first time Rose of Pinot Noir. We pressed the grapes as wholeclusters like chardonnay and later after fermentation, added back some wine from our pinot barrels to give it the rose color. It is fresh, crisp and a great summer wine.

Walter Hansel var en livslang vinenthusiast som i 1978 besluttede sig for at plante 250 vinstokke. I slutningen af 80-erne var turen kommet til hans søn Stephen Hansel, som besluttede sig for at udvide arealet og samtidig begynde en proces hvor man senere kunne sælge af vinen. 

Første kommercielle årgang var i 1996 hvor man producerede 5000 kasser af Pinot Noir og Chardonnay.

Der produceres både Estate og Enkeltmarksvine, alle vine som på hver deres måde udtrykker klon, jord, placering og klima.

I begyndelsen af høsten hvert år starter Höllerer med at plukke druerne som bruges til Rosé. Zweigelt druerne har en klassisk jordbær/hindbær næse som vi ofte kender det fra Pinot Noir. Alle druerne afstilkes for at give frugtdybde og hviler herefter i 6 timer hvorefter man forsigtigt adskiller den lyserøde saft fra skallerne. For at sikre aromaerne foretages fermenteringen under lavere temperaturer, og der er konstant fokus på at sikre mineralitet og balance. Den færdige Rosé forfines af den lave alkoholprocent og tør finish.
