Martinelli Pinot Noir Bondi Home Ranch 2014 0,75
Robert Parker 96P
The cool-climate 2014 Pinot Noir Bondi Home Ranch, from the Green Valley in the Russian River, is absolutely spectacular. It saw 80% new oak because it was so concentrated, and it seems to have sucked it up and only reveals just a slight wood spice to its full-bodied, beautifully textured, black raspberry and blackberry fruit. This is one of the profound 2014s and should drink well for 15-20 years.
Martinelli Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2012 0,75
TastingnoteBright red. Intense red fruit and blood orange scents are underscored by dusty mineral and spice notes. On the palate, taut redcurrant, strawberry and raspberry favors gain sweetness and flesh with aeration. Sexy oak spices build on the finish, which features silky tannins and an echo of fresh red berries. There's 70% new oak here and it expresses itself by spiciness, not vanilla or mocha.
Martinelli Zinfandel Giuseppe & Luisa 2015 0,75
Robert Parker 93P
At the higher end of the alcohol spectrum, these Martinelli Zinfandels are powerful wines for sure, but I hasten to add that they are beautifully balanced and in terms of flavor, tannin and complexity, they represent the pinnacles of ripeness in every sense. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Zinfandel Giuseppe and Luisa is scented of dried mulberries, plum preserves and blueberry pie with suggestions of hoisin sauce, sandalwood and sautéed herbs. With generous black berry preserves and spice flavors on the very full-bodied palate, it is a mouthful of rich, plush, pure hedonism.
Martinelli Zinfandel Jackass Vineyard 2012 0,75
Robert Parker 94/100
The evolved dark garnet-colored 2012 Zinfandel Jackass Vineyard came in at only 17.1% natural alcohol. It is extremely full-bodied with notes of lavender, bay leaf, sweet mulberry and black cherry jam, wild strawberries, spice box and charcuterie. The incredibly decadent, luxurious aromatic profile is followed by an equally stunning, multidimensional, full-throttle, massively-endowed wine to drink over the next 10-15+ years.
International Wine Cellar 94/100
Highly perfumed aromas of black and blue fruits, apricot, potpourri and woodsmoke, with a sexy Asian spice nuance adding complexity. Juicy, penetrating blueberry and mulberry flavors show outstanding depth, with a spine of zesty minerality providing lift. Offers a compelling blend of richness, weight and vivacity and finishes with superb clarity, power and spicy persistence. I suspect that this hugely concentrated wine will age along a slow, steady, very long curve.
