Weingut Hiedler Riesling "Steinhaus" 2012 0,75
Hiedler's 2012 Riesling Steinhaus is yet more piquantly fruit pit-inflected, smoky and phenolically intense than the corresponding Urgestein bottling, with pungent green herbal adjuncts and a strong undertone of stone as only seems appropriate to a site with this name. Given a bit less primary juiciness and absent the Urgestein bottling's salinity, this Steinhaus comes off as more austere, but is at the same time plenty mouth-shaking. Apple and peach are present in chew of skin and invigorating prickle of fuzz, making for an impressively gripping if rather rustic performance. Carefully paired, this ought to serve well through 2016 but I would want to monitor it again before prognosticating further.
a hint of anise, yellow stone fruits, nuances of orange zest, delicate touch of maracuja, medium body, fresh and fine structure, nice citrus-touch in the finish, fine hint of orange remains on the palate
